About RMT
Rhythmic Movement Therapy
What is RMT?
RMT or Rhythmic Movement Training is a movement based, primitive (infant or neonatal) reflex integration program that uses developmental movements, gentle isometric pressure and self-awareness to rebuild the foundations necessary to help overcome learning, sensory, emotional and behavioural challenges for children and adults.
How does RMT help?
RMT helps by using Retained Reflex Assessment, brain stimulation and reflex integration. By promoting positive changes through gentle movement, we can identify the possible roots of challenges, and then working to change them from the foundations, up.
How long are sessions?
Each session is approximately one hour long.
What do we do in a session?
- Working with you or the parent/caregiver and child, we’ll explore possible root causes.
- Work using the isometric pressure, massages, tapping and movements I’ve studied.
- Teach you some movements to do at home, that will help you and/or your child.
Do I need to do anything?
Yes, do the simple exercises taught above at home. These should only take about 5 minutes.
Why Rhythmic Movement Training and Reflex Integration?
If there is a problem, there is a reason. Reflex Integration can be part of the solution.
Reflex Integration, as an intervention, is a simple and effective addition to finding the solution.
Reflexes are the foundation blocks on which our brains develop, and they need to develop properly, in order for the brain to work effortlessly.
Based on the fact that in the womb, an embryo’s brain stem develops as the senses and primitive reflexes start to emerge and as movement begins, working with these movement therapies makes such a difference to someone who is struggling.
